Subspecies, varieties, forms and cultivars of plants belonging to the Eriosyce strausiana group

  • Eriosyce strausiana (K.Schum.) Katt.: 20 cm tall and 8-15 cm in diameter with 6-8 central spines, flowers 4 cm in diameter. Origin: San José de Jachal
  • Eriosyce strausiana subs. pachacoensis (Rausch) Ferryman: 10 cm tall and 8 cm in diameter, it has pink-grey radial spines and 1-2 centrals. Flowers 3,5 cm in diameter. Origin: Pachaco, San Juan.
  • Pyrrhocactus catamarcensis (Speg.) Backeb.: is a solitary cactus with very strong spines varying in colour from creamy-white to very purple-black. Distribution: Argentina (La Rioja, Mendoza, Catamarca and San Juan)
