Subspecies, varieties, forms and cultivars of plants belonging to the Euphorbia meloformis group

  • Euphorbia infausta N.E.Br. non N.E.Br.: It has almost spherical dark stems. Will offsets from the base. Te plants in the wild differ from one population to another, but also from one plant to another. This has caused much confusion ( = Euphorbia meloformis).
  • Euphorbia meloformis W.T.Aiton: It has round green and purple banded, spineless stems with 8 to 12 ribs. It occasionally offsets from the base. It is very similar in look to Euphorbia obesa.
  • Euphorbia meloformis f. cristata hort.: Strong green and purple banded crested plant with intricately undulating fan-shaped branches.
  • Euphorbia meloformis f. falsa (N.E.Br.) G.Marx
  • Euphorbia meloformis f. magna R.A.Dyer ex G.Marx
  • Euphorbia meloformis subs. valida (N.E.Br.) G.D.Rowley: It has more persistent peduncles, leading to a bristly appearance, and the mature plants are much taller than Euphorbia meloformis.
